Extremely misleading pricing; brace for large unexpected charges at the end of the month
Extremely bad experience. Subscribed to an 18$/month service, was charged ~10x this with no warning.1) No way to monitor actual spending in a month.2) No way to understand what's being charged and what isn't - and what's free vs what's not.3) No way to set an alert when approaching spending limits, or set a limit.4) No recourse once funds charged - was unhelpfully advised "You accepted this when you signed our terms and conditions" and then emailed a link to a 100-page legal document.Strongly recommend avoiding if you are a nascent startup unless of course you have a team of lawyers who can defend you.

What are the best aspects of this product?
Setting things up and utilizing in code was simple enough. With just few lines of code calling through the library, it becomes a highly scalable and useful counter service. UI is simple. It comes with essential features you'd come to expect from a counter service.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
Nothing specific. But there's one thing to take note. The more data you own, the slower its service will be. Expect its query service and certain counter to slow down significantly.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
I'm using it as a counter service. I find this very useful. For the most part, it's mainly for engineering purposes. It's capable of tracking query each second, system loads, currently available memory, and others.

What are the best aspects of this product?
The ability to track and solve problems last minute was a decisive criterion when choosing an APM tool, and I'm frankly glad we narrowed the search to Datadog. The thing with Datadog is that the team behind it never stops adding value, and their graphs and alerts are constantly upgrading to adapt to the dynamics of your workline. You're not supposed to do additional entries, as the system relies on datacentres, hostnames, system types and all similar aggregating counts and sources you have on disposal.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
You need to have your apps instrumented with StatsD, otherwise there will be a lot of catch-up work for you.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
Datadog is nothing like traditional data systems, which deal only with specific services and metrics, and where various teams are not able to correlate and to use information outside their direct competence. Datadog pushed these boundaries to enhance cooperation, and that made live easier for all of us.

Beware. For a few months my bill was $23, then they charged my debit card $1,130. Leaving me no option to get my money back. Absolutely horrible experience.

PROS & CONS
What are the best aspects of this product?
Setup was easy. The UI is simple and clean. User-friendly in a lot of ways. If you had expereience of StatsD/Grafana then you'll be glad how easy this can be.
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
One time, we moved our servers to another host. As a result, we had to pay twice as much for a few months since we didn't switch the Datadog agents on our older servers. It pays to be careful. Ask for further details if you happen to be hosting your apps on cloud servers and if you're frequently doing short-timed instances.
What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?
Datadog prevented us from setting a Grafana/StatsD environment. Otherwise, we'd run into a lot of problems. Time would've been wasted. We love how easy it is to setup.
