Microsoft Visio

I like that there are several different diagramming types to choose from, and it can be integrated into other Microsoft Office tools, making everything much easier. Very professional output with amazing graphics.

Each version comes with better functions, but you have to pay for them separately, which can get costly. It's not for the casual user - without a working knowledge of vector software, it can be frustrating learning how to use it.

This is an amazing tool for visual learners. I find that when teaching new processes or concepts, this allows for step by step explanations. I can also save the document as a JPEG or PDF file and forward to those persons that do not have Visio.

the customization of the shapes is a great feature, allows me to create for each customer their own shapes to create the workflows. this give me a great option to give something specific for my costumers,

I do not like the connection (arrows) when I'm creating a workflows, it gets pretty messy. I'm as a person that use it a lot , can say that I can manage the connection between the shapes, but for a person that is new will always be really hard at the beginning.

it is the best tool in the market to create process workflows, you can have as many features in your shapes as you see fit.

Almost any stencil and icons from well known vendors are available. As a IT person this is very convenient as it gives you the possibility to create detailed diagrams based on your devices.

Can be expensive when compared to other applications out there. Also no mac version available which forces you to use the web version of Visio which in my case does not give you the same feel and experience as the desktop application.

Creating of flows, processes and diagrams which gives you a visual view of these. This also helps when troubleshooting.

The most important part is that being good at using Visio I'm keeping my job for the time being and in the mid of this pandemic that is actually a big thing and even if I lost it I could find another one relativelly easily. It's just the industry standard for network diagrams it doesn't matter if they are WiFi, switching, security, data center diagrams at the end almost every one gets translated into a Visio file since it is a common point of contact that different areas and vendors understand in a pretty good way

Even as a Mac user I'm pretty fond of Microsoft, so please Microsoft get us a working Mac version already, I like Visio overall but if a competing product worked in Mac in the same way many of us would jump ship.

Pay attention to layers and little details, a diagram with the layers and objects well documented is worth a lot more for any project

I create, edit and update network diagrams with Visio and it keeps me employed so I'm pretty grateful for that.

Diagrams in design documents are little complex to prepare but with help of visio, we are easily able to make them and very fast too.
