"A great tool for project collaboration"

What do you like best?

Any inquiries, tickets you or your clients might have can be easily reorganized with Pivotal Tracker, enabling you and your team to multitask to your strengths and avoid wasting time on the trickier stuff. Timetables, sprints, phases, sequential development, you name it. Pivotal Tracker allows you to set rules for the way you work without ever feeling oppressive on your workflow.

What do you dislike?

When I first used Pivotal Tracker I remember being a bit confused how to navigate the various pages, e.g. how to find the advanced search function. The UI could be designed slightly more intuitively.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The efficient way the roadmap is presented to everyone involved and the numerous presentation features show how robust and complete the product is. The complexity of inserting these features into the project creation is great, but over time it helps a lot to transmit the information.

"Great Tool for Tracking Data "

What do you like best?

I love that we can keep track of stories between us (located in the US) and our developers (located in Europe). We work at different times so this really helps us to all stay on the same page.

What do you dislike?

I would like to be able to add images in the description instead of having to add them to comments.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving the time difference issue with working with people on the other side of the world.

"Excellent workflow management"

What do you like best?

Once set up it offers good integration with github and creates a very fluid workflow.

Not restricting who can change status puts the delivery status of a task in the hands of those doing it, and does not require admins to oversee every step.

UI is intuitive and the graphing of velocity and story types is also quite useful for tracking progress.

What do you dislike?

The documentation around git integration is unclear, and possibly outdated. This automation is one of the best features and should be of greater focus.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is reducing the time spent planning without a steep learning curve.

"Decent task tracking tool, leaves more to be desired."

What do you like best?

Pivotal allows you to keep track of tasks, add notes and update their status. In regards to those features, Pivotal delivers as promised. They also have a companion mobile app which is great for quick reference. It is very specific for software development teams, which is great if you're exclusively working on a software project.

What do you dislike?

The user interface and onboarding process leave a lot more to be desired. It is very plain and subdued, and no real way for someone new to Pivotal or a project to learn/understand the software quickly. It is set up similar to a kaban board but when you try and drag and drop tasks it won't let you and provides no explanation. I wouldn't call Pivotal a complete project management app, but more of a planning and task management app.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take advantage of the free trial to make sure it works for your organization before making a purchasing decision. Try out a couple of vendors that offer a freemium or scaling price package and let your developers try it out. Pivotal could definitely solve some project related pain points, but make sure to try it out before making and organization change.

Keeping track of project processes and tasks within a project. It allows for a global team to be on the same page in regards to where a project is at, what is being worked on and by whom.

"Great project management tool for agile times "

What do you like best?

It’s really easy to implement agile methodologies and keep track of velocity/burnup.

What do you dislike?

I would like the mobile app to be fuller featured. There’s no reason why every feature on the desktop web app can’t be in the mobile one.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are achieving our sprint goals faster and more effectively using Pivotal
